Dr. Erik Evans was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating from Upper Arlington High School, he majored in biology at The College of Wooster. He became interested in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery while observing his father, Dr. T. W. Evans, in his practice.
Dr. Evans graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1996 and entered an integrated OMS residency and medical school at Northwestern University Medical School (now Feinberg School of Medicine) in Chicago after completing a year of Anesthesia training at Parkland Memorial Hospital at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He completed an internship in surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after medical school. He went on to complete his OMS residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2005 followed by a fellowship in facial aesthetic surgery with his father in Columbus.
He remained in Columbus as full-time faculty in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital where he became residency program director and the D. P. Snyder Endowed Professor. During this time, he was awarded the Faculty Educator Development Award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), given to a select number of promising young academic surgeons. After five years at Ohio State, he spent over six years in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He joined Ellis and Evans Oral Surgery in 2018.
A fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American College of Surgeons, he has given lectures on both the local and national level, published research articles and book chapters, been a reviewer for the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and has served his specialty as President of the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as a Delegate to AAOMS.
Dr. Evans’ professional interests include the full scope of the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including facial trauma, facial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, and facial aesthetic surgery.
Dr. Evans enjoys practicing a wide scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, focusing on orthognathic and facial aesthetic surgery.
